Math Play in the Math Center!

My students need to learn through exploration and discovery! These math manipulatives, from magnetic fraction apples to playing pattern and strategy games, will help them to become problem solvers and mathematically minded!

My Students

I am starting at a brand-new school in Groton, CT as the math coach in a small neighborhood elementary school. I will be setting up a new math lab. It is a school that celebrates its diversity and has many military families in the community. Students and families here are eager to learn and appreciate whatever you have for them. I can't wait to meet my new students who greeted me with big smiles when I visited the school prior to being hired!

My Project

My experiences over the past 30 years with children have proven time and time again that they learn best through play. When given the opportunity to explore with lifelike manipulatives they discover the mathematical ways of the world. This builds confidence and improves their ability to manipulate numbers in the real world. The foundation of play in the elementary grades will help students to succeed in their math class. Please help me to set up the math center with exciting games and supplies, such as apple fractions and magnetic money, that will bring math alive for many students in kindergarten through fifth grade.
