My Project

My students love to play and learn in creative ways! I want to provide them with an environment that will encourage this. Our current carpet situation is a mix of older carpets used to create play areas. I want to show my students that I care about them by organizing their building center around a new area rug. This carpet will replace the two currently being used in our building center and will create an area that will be more comfortable and visually inviting.

This number rug will not only provide my students with a clean and inviting play area, but will give them an opportunity to identify numbers, count and use one to one correspondence to match the same number of objects or blocks to the number they see. It can also be used to visually match numbers or even colors. We have an alphabet carpet in our large group area that is used to match letters and objects and it is one of our favorite activities...let's extend this to other areas of the room!

Mrs. Thompson will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 11.
