Help me give my students supplies needed for online teaching to monitor and organize student projects and progress. The computer desk and stand will help with online instruction.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in 7th and 8th grade and attend an older Title 1 public middle school in Southern California. Title 1 schools are in areas with low socioeconomic areas and receive federal funding so all its students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of our students do not enjoy math when they come into our 8th-grade classes. They have many outside factors that distract their learning. Teaching online will be a challenge to engage students and motivate their participation. When we enter the classroom it is in an older building and cleanliness is always a challenge.
Our student body is very diverse and supports a variety of cultures and languages.
Students in my class range from gifted and talented to students with learning disabilities, and everything in between. This project will help with the large number of students I am teaching. My ultimate goal is to improve the online environment, and provide needed supplies to teach online.
My Project
The supplies will be used to copy projects to project on the document projector. The supplies will be used to track attendance and to assist the daily monitoring of student needs. The desk and computer stand will assist with online instruction and teacher organization. Delivery of online instruction needs an organized work area. The use of the table will provide a place to demonstrate math problems or pictures of diagrams to explain the mathematics taught. It will also allow me to demonstrate with manipulatives so that students can have a pictorial representation of the problem to help with understanding.
