Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten, where smiles are always on, laughter is contagious and learning is fun! As a teacher of a Title I school, with 100% free and reduced-price lunch, I am faced with many challenges that other schools might not deal with.
My students enter Pre-K and for many of them, it is their first time away from their home as well as their family.
Some come into a classroom where they do not speak the native language. All are resilient and eager to learn. At the ages of four and five, they are sponges and absorb everything around them. They desire love and attention. They desire to feel like they belong. They want to succeed and they deserve the chance to reach their dreams.
My Project
My students have taken off in math!! We have moved way past simple counting activities and sorting centers! While this is so exciting to a have a class that is so focused and driven, we have fun out of challenging materials without having to go to worksheets, with are not nearly as fun! We are in need of new math centers!!! I have picked out challenging but engaging math centers that I think would help my students master difficult concepts. With the addition of various activities that help with adding, subtracting, decomposing numbers and number bonds, these students will be more than ready for kindergarten!
