This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a high poverty school where several of the students receive free or reduced price lunches, and 100% receive free breakfast. Even though my fourth grade students have many obstacles that make learning more difficult, I always have high expectations that they will grow and learn. School is a safe and happy place for my students. Each day they come into the classroom excited about the day and spending time exploring and learning together! For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day.
This year I have the privilege of teaching this group a second time.
We had a great year together in 2nd grade learning all the second grade curriculum plus new skills such as typing, coding, robotics, and chess!
My Project
The behavior chart will help the students see throughout the day how they are doing. It will also serve as a earbud holder. The students will be able to store the earbuds behind the cards.
My students will be able to use this "feet-on" activity 120 grid rug in many ways during math lessons.
Having a big 120 chart that is hands-on or "feet-on" has so many possibilities, not to mention it gets them moving. Students can learn how to add and subtract two digit numbers while walking on the rug. For example, a student can answer 24-10 by standing on the 24 then can step back 10 to find the answer. This rug will be a great resource for students that need the "feet-on" learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
