My Students

One of the biggest challenges as a teacher is helping students succeed when they face the challenges of poverty. This will help me provide students who are unable to afford some basic supplies with a binder to stay organized in my class in a way that should help them succeed.

My students live in a rural area.

There are many that come from low-income families that have dreams of being the first in their family to attend college. The binders will specifically be for my Geometry classes with mostly 10th and 11th graders. Students who are able to afford their own binders will provide their own, these will be for students with need only.

My Project

The students will use the binders as an interactive math binder. In these binders they will be able to store notes, activities, projects, study materials, and work. By having it all stored in a central location they are able to use their own materials to study for tests and take ownership of their work. This will also help them learn skills such as organization and studying that will benefit them past my class.

This will take strain off of myself and students.

Students will feel less embarrassment by not having the needed school supplies and not having to show up to class unprepared due to financial need. It helps me because I supply many students with needed supplies and binders are quite a pricey item.
