it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 5th grade students attend the biggest elementary school in Utah with over 1,000 students from Pre-K to 6th grade. All four of the 5th grade classrooms are in portables behind the school, as well as two 6th fourth grade classrooms since our school is so large! 70% of these students qualify for free or reduced lunch. However, these students have goals and want to achieve greatness, but lack the tools that are necessary. They want to learn and understand. They want to grow and ask questions. I want to help provide them with these tools so they can achieve their potential.
My Project
My students will use these quad ruled notebooks to explore new math concepts through sketching, modeling, and problem solving. The colored pencils will allow them to see relationships between values of fraction models, the #2 pencils will help them stay focused on math since they don't break as often, and the labels will allow me to clearly label each notebook for each student!
I have used these notebooks in the past and they are a game changer for math!
However, we are always scrambling to find colored pencils that will layer correctly and pencils that are dark enough to show up on the paper. Seeing students learn and explore in special math notebooks is truly amazing!
