Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Nelson Mandela once stated, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I strive everyday to prepare my students to be world changers by providing access to the best possible classroom resources.
My students are, in one word, amazing.
They are faced with some of life's biggest challenges as mere fifth graders. As some of the strongest students I know, they continue to push themselves to "grow their brains" no matter what. They are on the path to and through college and they understand the importance of being an advocate for their own education.
My Project
Instructional materials are critical for successful teaching in any classroom, especially in diverse settings where students' skill levels, learning styles, and interests are more varied. The materials I am requesting will provide exciting options to meet the instructional challenges that I face. The majority of materials I am requesting in this project are high-interest books about a variety of math topics to be used in a middle school classroom. These real world connections and conversations about topics such as fractions, decimals and area will be extremely engaging and eye-opening to a multitude of careers in STEM. I can't wait for my students to get their hands on such engaging texts about math!
My students need appropriate math resources and basic classroom supplies to be successful in their first year of middle school!
I am a big believer of having a clean and organized classroom and am requesting materials such as storage bins, Kleenex, wipes and erasers to ensure an even more successful year. I have also included items such as mechanical pencils and gold foil stickers to use as rewards in the classroom.
