My Students
What is your why?
While students at our school come from high poverty backgrounds, the challenges they may face on a daily basis have not affected their passion for learning.
At our school, students come from a low socioeconomic background. 100 percent of students receive free lunches, indicating that their families are at the federal poverty level.
As educators, we strive to create an environment that is relevant and engaging to our students. We work our hardest to provide students with experiences that will encourage them as learners and fuel their desire to learn. It is important that these students have resources and activities to set them up for success.
My Project
As we are developing our math skills in the classroom, my students are in need of more hands-on resources to reinforce the math skills we are learning. Students are often in needs of tools like calculators, graph paper and white boards to help make their learning come to life.
We have so many different levels in our classroom and often work in small groups to help differentiate instruction and these resources will help to provide my scholars hands on resources to reinforce the skills we are learning.
In our math classroom, student are either working with the teacher, using technology to fill in gaps in our learning or doing independent or partner practice to reinforce our skills.
These hands-on math resources will be used by students during math instruction. My students are often in need of calculators to work through math problems. The whiteboards and graph paper will be used by student while graphing linear equations. The students are able to use the "Everything You Need to Know to Ace Math" book as a resources in our classroom. Additionally, my students will be able to use the Apple Pencil on their iPads that can be projected from their seats on our interactive whiteboard.
These resources can be used during independent practice or during small group instruction with the teacher, making lessons more interactive and engaging for the students.
