This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I want my second graders to be high achievers in math! I want them to have confidence to persevere and solve challenging problems, and feel confident as they do it. However, my students have various learning challenges and often struggle with abstract math concepts as presented in the curriculum.
My students are curious and creative!
They are second graders that list math as one of their favorite subjects. Living in a high-poverty area, however, limits their exposure to resources and opportunities to explore and learn important math concepts.
My Project
With the tabletop easel, I will be able to re-teach and pre-teach important math concepts to small groups of students as needed. With the magnetic math manipulatives, I will be able to model math concepts, providing additional visual resources. Further, they will be able to use the manipulatives to explore and practice concepts as often as needed to help them master the skills.
Your donation will help supplement the common core curriculum and make it accessible to my students that have special needs and learning challenges.
Having strong number concepts and a strong base in early math is crucial to mastering more complex concepts. Your donation will help my students master basic math concepts, thus laying a strong foundation for more difficult concepts.
