My Project

Learning math, internalizing math requires so much more than workbook practice. A core feature of our Illustrative Math curriculum is the Project-Based Learning process. As a School-Based Teacher Leader, I have the opportunity to visit and support our 5th grade students on the daily. Two years, into this curriculum, It is incredible to see the joy on our student's faces as they engage with their peers to better understand the content.

Our students need materials that support their engagement in this Project-Based-Learning process.

Chart paper for group work, dry-erase markers for rapid response/feedback opportunities or group work around the room, opportunities for make and takes using colored printer paper/construction paper, color-coding new vocab/creating visual math vocab journals using color-ed pencils, all enhance the project-based learning process and in turn the depth of knowledge that our students gain from the content.

As these materials are expensive to replenish yearly, we hope to ease the monetary responsibility placed on our teachers time and time again.

Ms. Turoff will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by November 24.
