Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let's face it - MATH IS ALL AROUND US! We can't escape it, we can't deny it and so our class is embracing it! We have a wide range of ability levels in our class which requires a wide range of teaching techniques. Games and books are just two of those techniques that will reach my students!

Our school is considered to be at the 100% poverty level.

We do NOT let that define us! Instead, we have decided that knowledge is power and the more we learn, the more powerful we become! Although this is our mindset, some subjects prove to be a bit more challenging than others. Math is one of those subjects. There are a wide range of ability levels in my 5th grade classroom - from a 1st grade level, all the way to an 8th grade level. As you can imagine, this requires a variety of teaching techniques. The math games, books, and vocabulary cards that I am requesting are a great way to reach all learners. The computer games excite and motivate them. The vocabulary cards give students a way to visually represent a term they have heard many times. The books connect math to real life using fun stories. My students WANT to learn but require an assortment of ways to reach their goal. These materials are an enjoyable way to learn math and gain powerful knowledge!!

My Project

An excellent teacher researches and uses many different ways to reach her students. My students are excited learners who need to be active. They don't learn by sitting still in a desk. The books I've requested will grab their attention and will be a great way to introduce a new concept. Although they are 5th graders, they love read-alouds! I've also requested several computer games and activities. We will be able to put these to use everyday! My students are very computer savvy and will pick up on these games quickly! They will be thrilled to know that they can have fun and learn at the same time! Lastly, words are just words until you can form a visual image in your mind for a particular word. The vocabulary cards that I have requested each have a picture and definition which will make learning a new word much easier! These materials will allow me to reach all of my students regardless of their ability level! My desire is for all of them to reach their fullest potential!

Make a difference in the lives of my students!

For these children, school is a safe haven, a place they love to come to, a place that accepts them for who they are, a place where they are loved! YOU can help these students succeed and become outstanding math students by donating and helping me purchase materials that will enhance and enrich their learning experience!
