Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are enthusiastic learners from diverse backgrounds. Our school has many language learners, but the students don't let this get in the way of their passion for learning. At our school, we emphasize character trait education knowing that this is a key element in becoming a successful learner.
We set high goals for our students and provide them with resources to achieve those goals.
We call our students professional students and expect them to take school seriously, work hard, and have a growth mindset. Working together, we can achieve our goals!
My Project
These materials will help my students grasp key first grade math ideas like addition, subtraction, and building numbers to 100 by understanding place value. 100 grid boards will help us learn numbers and we can build those numbers with base ten blocks and ones blocks. Addition and subtraction cards will help us review math facts so we can gain automaticity. And a set of math books will help us learn how math is applied in the real world. By having these hands-on materials, I hope to have my students get a better grasp on basic first grade math standards.
