My Students

My students have a desire to learn and be successful in school. Most of our students come from homes with a poverty income since about 70% of our students are entitled to free and reduced lunch. I feel that they should have as much of a chance to have a great education and opportunities as their counterparts who live in better(higher income) neighborhoods. Due to state funding, many of our supplies and resources have been cut. This makes it difficult for students to learn with minimal manipulatives for hands-on learning. I am hoping to get the ETA Hand2Mind fluency kit for 1st grade which would be an awesome addition to my classroom.

My Project

Math Fact Fluency Kit by ETA Hand2Mind will help my students master their basic math facts. Using manipulatives will help them see math in a concrete fashion. Students will be able to see how numbers are broken apart and put together. They will be able to manipulate objects to prove their thinking and answers.

A Math Fact Fluency Kit will enable my students, who are so eager to learn, to master basic math facts in addition and subtraction.

By using the manipulatives, it will help them focus on the academic content in Common Core standards to achieve grade level status.
