Math Manipulatives!

Help me give my students tiles to help with solving problems with geometry, area, and distributive property of multiplication. The legos are also great manipulatives for solving problems with fractions!

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I currently teach 16-25 students 3rd grade math daily. Students' ages range from 8-10 years old. I love that my kiddos have such a thirst for knowledge! With your help, I want to cultivate their love for learning.

My Project

Benjamin Franklin once said “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” Most young students are kinesthetic learners. They learn best by being hands on and “learning by doing.” This project would help foster that love of learning by giving my students more hands-on activities to participate in during their instruction. These items will help students learn through hands-on involvement. The treasure box items will be a wonderful incentive for them to continue working hard and staying on task all throughout the week as well. This project will not only benefit students in my class this year, but for several years to come!
