Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from different cultural and economic backgrounds. As this will be my first time teaching students all subjects with different learning styles and academic abilities, I want to give them the best environment to do so. In each class, we have EL students and general ed students. I think putting students with different abilities and backgrounds together can make learning exciting and an enriching experience for everyone! My students have shown me how united they can be, even with their differences.
My Project
This year will be my first year teaching math. I am excited for the challenge but also am in need of math manipulatives to help my students succeed. All students learn in many different ways and manipulatives help those who need hands-on materials to do so. Teaching math concepts is hard without having physical representations of what is being taught. Math manipulatives also engage students and they have fun while learning.
Some of the manipulates that we will be using are base ten frames and representations of ones, tens and hundreds.
Also, my school is turning into a STEAM school; therefore, there will be an emphasis on math. These math manipulatives will guide students to succeed with our new school year in STEAM.
