Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second graders are enthusiastic and passionate about their learning. Their exposure to hands-on experiences validates their love of learning. Due to our school closure, it has put a huge halt to these daily precious moments! I would like to foster this feeling during the time that we are not together. I would rather 100 times be in the classroom teaching and learning with them if given the choice. Through weekly phone calls and emails, I am happy to report that the feeling is mutual. My students and I miss the day to day interaction and the connections that we share.
My Project
Distanced learning is an unknown concept that my students and I have come to learn and explore. Every day, it gets a little bit better but it will not take the place of our learning and exploring together. The away time from my students has been too long. It has given me the time to reflect and find ways to help my amazing second graders to retain and extend what they were learning before the school closure. With my great appreciation of your generosity, I know that these essential math manipulatives will help sustain my students' learning.
