Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are very diverse with many of them coming from economically disadvantaged homes. Over 80 percent of them are functioning on several grade levels below their current one. As a result, many are failing and become frustrated. This frustration has led to chronic absenteeism.
Because so many are functioning way below their current grade level and are in need of dire help to get them as close to their grade level.
it is imperative that we try to reduce the learning gap as soon as possible.
Learning math should be fun and exciting! Math has a bad rap for being dry and too challenging. I believe that math can be exciting and accessible to all students and one way to do that is through math centers. In math centers, students rotate through various math tasks and games with their peers to practice and talk about math!
I cannot wait to see how these games and other resources will deepen their love of math in my classroom. My students are a lovely, kind, eager, energetic, and curious bunch that are always ready and excited to learn more in math!
