Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In this project, students will use a variety of math manipulatives to explore different key concepts in geometry. They will use tracing paper, parchment paper, and patty paper to engage with geometric transformations. The different types of tracing paper will be used to create an apartment blueprint using rotations, reflections, and translations.

Students will also use the cone paper cups to derive the formulas for a cones surface area and volume.

They will work in collaborative groups to uncover all the volume and surface area formulas for different solids. Students will apply the concepts of a thinking classroom in their exploration.
