My Students

Within our classroom, each student brings their own unique quality to each lesson where they are involved.

My 2nd-grade students are part of a small rural community. This area is high poverty, yet each student does not allow themselves to be defined as such. The community we are located in, and our classroom is like a family. We are close to one another, and we do whatever we can so that each student finds success.

My Project

Having the materials that the students need with help them to make observations to construct an evidence-based account of how an object made of small pieces can be disassembled and made into a new object.

Dry erase sleeves and markers will allow the materials to be used for years to come.

We will be able to just pop in the worksheet for the students to complete, and then when we have finished, in goes a new one.

Place value is key to children understanding their numbers, how much a digit is worth within a whole number, and how to recognize them via word, standard, expanded, and unit value.
