My students need math manipulatives to help them gain a hands-on experience with math concepts. Graphing should be written and visualized, not simply completed mentally.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Aspirantes con Orgullo! My students are sixth graders at a bilingual charter school. Students receive education in both English and in Spanish, wherefore by the time they move onto high school, they will be fully bilingual. We are a Title I school, with 90% percent of our students coming from low-income families.
Many of our students have not had the opportunity to really explore and flourish in the area of math.
My goal as a math teacher is to allow my students to make a meaningful connection to each topic I present to them through small groups, videos, presentations, stations, etc. Seeing my students enjoy learning about the world around them and making connections brings me such joy and pleasure! To be able to provide my students with more supplies to further their love for learning and MATH, would mean a great deal.
My Project
These resources will allow students to create visuals and also gain a hands-on experience of math concepts.
Allowing students to explore math concepts with a hands-on approach will greatly benefit their mathematical experience.
The sentence strips will allow them to visually see formulas and vocabulary words in order to reference when explaining their thinking. The pocket charts will allow for the sentence strips to be displayed appropriately for students to easily view. The write and wipe graphing boards, along with the thin tipped markers will give students to opportunity to graph out ordered pairs when discussing coordinate planes. The other manipulatives will allow students the opportunity to explore decimals, fractions, and percents by being able to see the concepts and aid them in creating models to explain their thinking.
All of the supplies being requested will allow my students to experience and explore math in a more hands-on, exciting way!
