Math Madness

My students need a set of Math Skills Folder Game Libraries and a set of Real-World Math Problem Solving Kits to practice their math skills in a fun and engaging way.

My Students

Learning is much more exciting when you are having fun, and that is just what I want my students to be doing when they are practicing mathematics.

My classroom is located in an urban area in Texas.

It is comprised of students with various international backgrounds. Most of them are bilingual, speaking and reading English only at school. Our school is listed as Title I. My students love to come to school because they feel as if it is a safe home away from home.

My Project

Including games in my curriculum will increase engagement in mathematics. I have requested math games with manipulatives that work on an array of math concepts including multiplication, division, fractions, problem solving, and many others. These games provide a unique learning opportunity for students to interact with math in an enjoyable way. Students will be able to do more than fill in answers on a worksheet; they will be able to work cooperatively in small groups to teach and learn from each other.

Engagement in learning is key.

When kids are engaged and having fun they are learning at a deeper level. These math games will help to ensure engagement, which in the future will help them to not be scared of math. Building a firm mathematics foundation now is key to my students' college and career readiness and success.
