Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students have very little. I love to make my class bright and engaging for them. 98% of our students receive free/reduced-priced lunch. 26% of our students are English Language Learners,53% are minority students, and 6% are homeless.
My students work hard and try their best.
Learning to read and write is difficult, but they press on toward the goal. They are learning lifelong skills that they will use their entire lives. They are a joy to teach!
My Project
Students can find real-world math problems within a book. Many books contain math that students can find and solve. The books can be used as a read aloud, small group, or independently. I have lesson plans for the books that are being requested, although it is more authentic when students find the math in a story for themselves.
Students need hands-on tools for learning and understanding spatial awareness.
This can be done in a fun and engaging way with Blokus and Perfection games. Students will become masters at spatial reasoning when they practice in a fun way by playing games.
