Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In many urban communities, students are not supplied with the same tools and materials found in more affluent areas. My students are growing to be lifelong learners, and they are in need of resources to help them develop and strengthen their understanding of current events.

My fifth graders are bright, loving, and most importantly - unstoppable in their quest to be successful.

Their families support the students, the teacher, and the school. The parents are confident in my abilities as a teacher and with these new relationships and community connections. I enter my room more prepared and driven to provide my students with the supplies which they need.

My Project

The various resources I have requested in this project are items my students are in need of the most as they continue to strengthen their understanding of our base ten number system. The base ten units, rods, flats, and cubes will allow my students to see whole number relationships as well as decimal connections. These items, as well as the Number Talks book I have requested, will bring inspiration and possibility for success to my deserving students. They have put in the work and have dedicated themselves to their own education. They are accountable individuals who are only lacking the tools to further develop their concept understanding of math.

They will believe that they are meant to learn and grow into more than what society's limitations have set before them.

Your support will be a part of the movement towards having math be attainable by all. It will be part of a larger picture, where everybody (not just mathematicians and other professionals) can participate in mathematical discussions. Help my students become active voices in understanding math.
