Math Knowledge = Success, Just Ask Archimedes

Help me give my students a better interactive experience in their math class. This Surface Pro 7 tablet will allow me to walk around the classroom staying engaged with my students while working and discussing math problems.

My Students

Hello, I teach math and personal finance at a continuation/alternative high school in the Boise, Idaho, area. Some of my students live on their own or couch surf at friends' or relatives' homes. Many know more about gangs and the juvenile court system than about how to apply math or personal finance knowledge to their daily lives. Some are parents themselves and in need of developing sound financial skills. Some students arrive at my school believing that they cannot succeed at math, because failing math has already become the norm.

My students are wonderful young people who need guidance, compassion, and confidence.

I am excited about the opportunity to join forces with the DonorsChoose community and to foster a love for math and finance in my students. Thank you in advance!

My Project

Funding this project will help me maintain student engagement in math education which is an important key of overall educational success.

Keeping my students engaged means looking them in the eye, being at their side, and constantly walking around the room encouraging and challenging them.

The Surface Pro 7 (with the tech already in the classroom) will enable me to work math problems from anywhere in the classroom while projecting the necessary steps and answers on the whiteboard at the front of the room. The tablet will also allow my shy or fearful students to work problems, on the tablet, at their seat while displaying their knowledge and abilities on the whiteboard.
