My Students
As a math teacher, I get to work with entire grade levels by co-teaching lessons and working with small groups of students. My students are extremely hard working and come into math with a positive attitude. I have worked to instill a growth mindset in my students. This has helped students be open to learning new content and trying new strategies. Despite any challenges students may be facing, they demonstrate perseverance and give their absolute best.
My students are a diverse group who have endured a pandemic and thrive off of interaction and hands-on experiences.
My students are more engaged and demonstrate a stronger understanding of the content when being hands-on or when visuals are used. The students especially enjoy learning through inquiry, games, and working with peers.
My Project
Teaching during a pandemic looks different- instead of working in groups and sharing tools, students are separated from each other. Some of our students are completing all of their learning at home. By incorporating math kits, students are able to have the same hands-on experiences they are used to without needing to share tools with a partner or group. This keeps kids safe while learning.
These math kits bring the joy and excitement of math back into the classroom.
The math kits have 3D shapes which help our little ones visual the shapes as they learn about them. It is very difficult for students to understand a cube when looking at a flat document. The dry erase boards will allow students to complete a variety of math problems throughout the school year. These tool kits will be used both at home and at school to help students be successful and safe!
