Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a wonderful group of 4th graders! They are eager and motivated to learn! My goal is to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students to give the best that they possibly can, every day!
As a teacher, I try to always keep the compassion alive in me, especially for my students.
We see these children every day and sometimes don't know their struggles, their worries (tests can be a lot of pressure!) and there is no better way to connect with your students than understanding them. Doing so, I am learning on a daily basis that they need things that I cannot provide on my own. That is where generous donors from DonorsChoose.org come in--you make this a reality for them. Thank you for visiting our classroom in the best way possible!
My Project
As an educator of the 21st century, it is essential I provide my students with the various tools to be successful including technology. Technology is the future of our students. It's evident in nearly all areas of our lives. Our classroom has some laptops for student use but I would like to incorporate more innovated ways to enhance my students' reading, spelling, math and even entrepreneur skills. One of the best ways to learn a language is through innovation and creativity.
The Osmo is a groundbreaking gaming system that fosters creative thinking and collaborative learning.
When paired with an inexpensive tablet like Amazon Fire Tablet, the Osmo transforms the area in front of the tablet into an interactive environment. The students will use physical objects in the area in front of the tablet to solve puzzles, code, spell words, and even draw. Specifically, I want students to be able to work on math skills that build up to even more complex real-life math skills that they will actually need on a daily basis. They will be able to learn and practice reading and math skills while working collaboratively with their classmates, and strengthening their English language. In addition, STEM activities will introduce my students to new science, math, and technology ideas and concepts.
