My Students

My students bring such joy to my life and I am thankful to be their teacher. We seriously have some of the best students in our small town, elementary school. I know that every school and every teacher says that, but I know just how amazing our students are.

My students are always ready to try something new, because of that, I want to be a better teacher every day.

I want to grow with them!

Our school is over sixty percent free or reduced price lunch, but together our community, parents, and staff work to get us everything we need.

I am so grateful to have wonderful people like you also partnering with us to help get our students everything they so deserve.

My Project

This year in third grade we are teaching math using guided math centers. Through these centers we are able to teach a mini-lesson to the whole class and then meet in small groups with every group of students. We differentiate each center so that students get the activities that they need. Since this is new this year we are in need of more activities for the math centers.

Yesterday I asked students if they liked math centers, and they all yelled, "YES!" I am loving to teach my students this way and it is great that they are learning exactly what they need!

We'll be re-grouping our students every unit. So they will keep growing and changing!

The best part about these centers is that they are hands-on and many of them incorporate design into them. Block building, Power Tower, the TPT activities, and Blokus all inspire students to use math in their art. Art is something that is missing out of a lot of our schedule, and math is a great way to get more art back into it.

Math Dice will be used for many different activities, Pop to Win will be great for multiplication and division practice, Sequence Numbers, Dominoes, and the Instruction Cubes will be used in many different ways. Mastermind will incorporate coding into our centers.

The TPT gift card will be used to purchase task cards that students can walk around and solve, the tiles from Marcy Cook will be great practice puzzles during our addition unit.

What I know is that these centers will change how our students look at math and art. They will greatly impact their futures!
