My Project
Middle School can be tough enough! Math doesn't need to be. Please help me provide learning opportunities to illustrate, demonstrate, model, explore, and practice critical foundational Math skills to ensure my diverse students find success in higher grades and in their chosen STEM careers.
Math concepts are understood like magic when students can explore, demonstrate, model and practice the problems by using manipulatives and demonstrations.
By utilizing manipulatives such as an algebra balance, two-sided counters, and transparent fraction models students can explore math concepts that are challenging. They will understand concepts more deeply than by just using a worksheet. Headphones provide critical differentiated, independent learning opportunites for students with diverse needs. White board markers allow my students to use their response boards to solve problems, model solutions and collaborate on ideas. I like that I can quickly access student understanding and students love using the different writing tool rather than just a pencil and paper.
Learning should be fun and students like to play. Using different tools provides a learning experience that is exciting, makes more sense and becomes concrete. These tools help Math concepts be understood like magic!
