Let's be honest, students don't love math, but what they do love is TikTok! I am requesting an iPad to make bite-sized math videos for my students. These videos will be uploaded for students' viewing and will align with the Hawaii standards for mathematics and the curriculum at hand.
The math "TikTok" videos I make with the iPad will effectively allow students to obtain mathematical content, practice problems, and fun-facts on the devices they are already glued to.
This will also benefit when students are absent from class and need to catch up on the material that they missed.
Not only can I make math content on the iPad, but I can also lesson plan, enter grades, and present in class from it. I do not have a set classroom (I bounce around to different classrooms each period), so having all of my content on such a lightweight and portable iPad will greatly improve my workflow and productivity.
Although math is often a less than popular subject, I believe that with this project, I can make math tolerable, if not enjoyable. With an iPad, making short instructional videos, grading/lesson planning on the go, and analyzing/organizing student data will optimize my teaching abilities considerably. Please help me help my wonderful math students at Kapolei High School!
