My Project

Hello! Thank you for visiting my project. I am transitioning to elementary learning, where I will be responsible for assisting scholars develop a strength for math! Numbers can be scary to many of us--instead of looking at math like a puzzle to explore we may freeze up, get scared, or think we are "bad at math".

The items (dry erase boards, erasers, markers, geo blocks, fidgets, fraction tiles, graph paper, graph sticky notes and counting bears) I am requesting will impact the scholars who fall into a deficit mindset by giving them tactile opportunities to visualize math!

Visualization is one of THE most important skills for developing abstract thought, which as math advances is precisely what students need the most.

My goals for this project include building strong, confident mathematician's with manipulatives that are easily transformed, can help map their thinking, and gameify mathematical learning. This will allow students to increase their confidence and approach math with joy versus dread.

What makes my future students so special is that they are largely in a Title I school. This means as a school, we have had to get creative with our resources assuring that students have ACCESS within systems that only produce barriers. By funding this project, you will help break down barriers one at a time to quality education due to tax brackets, house zoning, and beyond. Won't you join in the fight to provide equitable access to all? Each student has a RIGHT to an education that is filled with abundance, and that is what this project aims to do.
