My students are exceptional learners and love collaborating with each other each day. They also love rotation stations (centers) where they can move to each station with their group to work in small groups focusing on mathematics, reading comprehension, phonics, word work, and a listening center. We also have the opportunity to be involved in many wonderful science/social studies activities. Our classroom environment is nurturing and allows the students to move around to work with their peers.
I want my students to have access to extra materials to enhance our learning environment in every way possible.
There are so many extra things that can be utilized to provide meaningful instruction in math, reading, etc.
My Project
The 120's charts can be used in multiple ways to target various math standards in our first grade classroom. Counters can be used for patterns, estimation, addition, and subtraction. Many games can be created from these math resources as well.
Each of these items will engage the students with what they are learning which creates excitement and helps them learn to love math!
Math is everywhere so it is important to create a positive relationship with math in the classroom.
