This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 7th Grade Math to English Language Learners (ELLs). Learning a new language, uprooting everything you ever knew, and being in a new place is tough enough for these kids. Let's help level the playing field, so that that my classes of ELLs can access the same quality of information that their American-born counterparts have access to.
I am hoping to get my project funded so that we can acquire toners in different colors.
This will go a long way to providing students with crisp visuals that many times have crucial information, that can be otherwise missed.
English language handouts and text material tend to have color that carries crucial factors that play a part in understanding the questions or finding a solution. However, many times I have to recreate word problems and problems with illustrations in my students' home language. Many times this means that my printouts are simply in black and white. I hope that by being able to print in color, I can provide the best information and recreations for the ELLs.
