My Students
I am a third-grade teacher in a small Brooklyn neighborhood school. My students love to learn and are eager to come to school every day. School this year is different as they all have opted in for remote learning. When they first enter third grade, they are nervous. It is very different from second grade. They are at the halfway mark of elementary school and need to become more independent to prepare for the rest of their academics.
My students love to express themselves and effectively participate in class.
They are enthusiastic and full of energy. They are always ready to go on a new learning adventure. My goal is to give them the best learning experience and make it a memorable year.
My students have diverse backgrounds and range in academic ability from non-English to advanced learners and general education as well as special education students. My students are heterogeneously grouped. I believe the more engaged my students are, the better outcomes they will have.
My Project
My students are in need of academic intervention and providing motivating resources will help them improve. My students have diverse needs. Research shows that academic stress leads to less well-being and an increased likelihood of developing anxiety or depression.
Improving academics builds self confidence and improves mental health.
Daily Math Journals Grade 3, Daily Math Journals Grade 2 and Math Instant Learning Centers Grades 2-3 will allow me to provide small group, individualized instruction to meet individual goals. It will also allow me to provide remediation resources. My students enjoy working in small groups and are willing to take more chances when they are working in small groups. Also, these materials will allow my students to work independently and self check their work.
