My students are five years old and full of energy. They need supplies they can manipulate in order to learn about numbers.
My students come from a small rural Wisconsin area.
Many of the area towns are incorporated into the one school district. The children often ride a bus for 30 minutes just to get to school. The classroom is all inclusive so we have a wide range of skills.
My Project
With these math manipulatives I will not only be able to incorporate them into the large group activity, I will be able to let the children work on them during small groups, and learning center times. Because of the wide range of skills in the classroom these supplies will be useful for the whole year, not just during one unit of study.
Children learn at all different speeds.
Some get the concept the first time taught. Many students need the repetition these supplies will offer before the concept is learned. With your support I will be able to provide these hands on activities throughout their kindergarten year.
