My Students

Our students love a challenge. A typical day in the classroom is very busy with many students coming in and out of my art classroom. The students are always engaged through using critical thinking skills to solve problems that come up when creating something new.

Our school is going on its third year and we proud ourselves on being GREEN from the renovated gym building we are in, recycling programs we have, and the many skylights that have been put in place to conserve energy.

We are also a GREEN Step school curriculum. The school is focused on learning and using renewable energy. Our students are very diverse in culture but are united for one common goal. That goal includes being involved with our GREEN efforts and our high standards in academics. The students are encouraged in my art class to use their critical thinking skills, learn that a problem can have more then one answer, and learn by making something out of nothing.

My Project

Students love creating art this is unique and different. The students will be using the requested permanent markers, transparency film and stain glass window design books. My fourth graders will be learning about architecture design and using compasses and rulers to create geometric designs for a "glass window". They will be using the transparency film as their "glass" and using the bold and fine tip Permanent markers to create their design on the film. My fourth grade students will be doing a whole unit architectural design. They will be using rules and compasses to create their designs. Students love the hands-on experience that this project will provide.

My students need the permanent markers, transparency film, and the idea books so students can learn about design and architecture.

It is difficult to keep permanent markers in the art room because they go through them so fast. This project will make a different to my students because they will be implementing math within their artwork.
