My Students
My students are an array of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in an urban environment. They strive to become artists and musicians who will lead our entertainment industry one day. They are highly academically motivated in their learning, as they attend an arts/performing arts high school in which they have specific majors of study in the arts. They are also college-oriented and so choose rigorous preparatory coursework such as College Board-level Advanced Placement classes. They also enjoy expressing their knowledge and their art through classroom discussions and debates, group work, and hands-on experiments and projects.
They need your help.
Our school serves students in grades 9-12 and provides rigorous academics and artistic practices. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in New York City. Our goal is to prepare our students for success in high school and college, and our alumni have gone on to schools such as NYU, Columbia, Hunter College, and Stony Brook University. Some even go on to become musicians on Broadway, at Lincoln Center, and even at television studios.
My Project
Students need calculators to help do the mathematics involved in forces, momentum, kinematics in order to learn how gravity affects them. The project will help them throughout the whole year in physics. The calculators are used to integrate mathematics in the world of physics.
The posters on physics are necessary so that the students can perform "Gallery walks" which is learning by visualizing.
This will inform them about Sir Isaac Newton's discovery of gravity and how he derived the laws of physics including the Newtons laws of motion.
These posters will help engage the students in discussion and debates over the topics of physics like Gravity, friction, motion, dimensions, etc.
