Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have an Autistic Support classroom that is new to the school. I work in a Title I high school in Philadelphia. The students that I work with struggle with expressive and receptive language abilities. Visuals are an essential tool to help students with autism understand their environment and express their wants and needs.

I am trying to make my classroom a second home to my students and I focus on creating a safe, fun environment.

This "homey" environment is where we spend most of our day and it is important that we have the supplies that we need. I am thankful for all of your support!

My Project

My students are very visual and they need to work under a schedule. We are asking for the classroom schedule pocket chart and the Calendar & Weather pocket chart. We have in the list the storage pockets to have simple worksheet available for when students finish their class task. We added the months of the year because my students still need prompting and feedback remembering them. The highlighters are to bring emphasis to important text or passages. The sticky notes are for the communication notebook.

The bag is to carry the students’ documents and their personal belongings when we are out in our Community Based Instruction.

For out CBI trip, my students will benefit of calculators if they need to do any transactions. In our classroom we have our special corner where we play or just relax and we are missing a lamp for reading.

My students love to do arts & craft and that is why we are asking for paint, brushes and the decorative scissors. The plastic bin is for storage our supplies and materials. The electric sharpener with the extra space for thick pencils is because we have one student that prefer that type pencils. I added a couple of Alane Adams Books because my students love them!
