Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a vibrant group of 4th graders at a Title I school. My students come from diverse ethnic and linguistic backgrounds. About 65% of my students are Latino/Chicano, 25% African-American, 5% Asian, and 5% Caucasian/Other. About 60% of my students are English Language Learners.

I strive to see my students grow as thinkers, kind human beings, and life-long learners.

My students enjoy solving math riddles, writing personal narratives, and checking out "Dogman" books from the school library. As we journey through the school year, I look forward to seeing them improve in their growth mindset, and achieving academic and social emotional goals.

My Project

My students love to do math. They are constantly asking to do extra math whether it is math lessons, or online math games. What our classroom is missing is math games to do with classmates. With these games students will be able to practice counting skills, math fact fluency, and all operations. The students are so looking forward to playing these games in class.

Math games making learning fun!

Students will be able to simply grab a game off the shelf and learn while playing. The multiplication war card games will come in handy as students are currently working on mastering multiplication their math facts. I am just as eager as my students to introduce card games and board games to our math centers.
