My Students

I teach at a Level IV program for students who meet eligibility requirements in Special Education (range of disabilities). My students (Kindergarten - 9th grade) struggle with traditional classroom teaching styles. I teach Math and am always looking for more engaging, hands-on, interactive and visual teaching tools.

These students have significant behavioral, communication, and/or mental health needs.

Many of them have experienced or are continuing to experience some kind of trauma in their lives, making it difficult to remain regulated and focused.

My Project

These materials will provide me, the Math teacher, with more engaging, hands-on, interactive and visual teaching tools. Students perform when they are having fun! I want students to say that they are excited to learn in Ms. Piche's math class today. I want them to feel success. I want them to practice social skills while doing it; not just sit and stare at the board while the teacher is talking. These games will offer SO many opportunities for peer engagement, relationship building, fun and a break from the mundane. I know my students will be excited to see these new activities come through the classroom door!
