My students walk into my classroom with wonder. They are ready to learn. I want to keep that excitement alive in them. To do that, I need to keep them engaged and wondering. I am a looping teacher and loop with my students from kindergarten to 1st grade.
I teach at a Title I school in Michigan where over 90% percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They love being in school because they feel safe and loved.
My Project
My students love to learn and I love to help them learn. Research shows that students retain more when learning is hands-on. These math manipulatives, math games, and rekenreks will be used during centers and guided math.
These resources will be used daily to help students become the mathematicians they are able to be.
Kids need to be engaged during math centers and having engaging things for students to do during this time is very helpful. Engagement will definitely be high with these math board games, dice, rekenreks, and magnetic base ten manipulatives. I can already imagine the engagement that would come from the math games. These resources would take our learning to a whole new level. These manipulatives are quality and will last many years to come helping to impact years of students.
