Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarteners are learning to count, sort, add, and many other math skills. For many of my students, this is the first time they are aware that playing is part of learning, especially Math. Most of my students are multilingual students and Math is a subject where all of my students can engage and language is no longer a barrier.

This project is about providing my students with additional math activities and tools to engage in building their mathematical identity.

The wooden 100 board puzzles will support my students who are learning to count to 100 by looking at how the numbers are organized predictably. The sorting game will provide my students who are working on their fine motor skills and sorting skills with a fun way to build these critical skills in the classroom. The other math games included in the family engagement math packs will be helpful for my students who are ready for more challenging tasks such as auditing and subtracting, using the number line and ten frames. Most of these activities could be done independently or with a partner.
