This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When you walk into my classroom, you will see my students working in pairs, in small groups and there is definitely a buzz. You will see students working on Chromebooks, iPad minis, and even personal smartphones. My students are used to using many different modalities to demonstrate their understanding. More than half of the students in our school come from low-income homes.
My students are a group of seventh and eighth graders who are English-language learners and Spanish-language learners.
They have been learning in both languages since kindergarten in our school, which is a K-8 grade school model.
My Project
With the purchase of these materials from Teachers Pay Teachers, I will have resources for our seventh and eighth grade to use in guided math! We have the luxury have my students for two blocks a day. One of the blocks I use to do math centers. During center time, students engage in technology, applications, math vocabulary, and hands-on activities.
The purpose of the hands-on activities is to review, practice and maintain skills already taught through the year.
In order to have my middle schoolers engage in my daily activities, I have to make learning like a game. Creating this type of environment for my students in my classroom will help everyone focus on math.
More than half of students from low‑income households
