Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The best learning environment is one in which children are having fun! There are some great new manipulatives, games and materials that help make math fun for students.
I teach most of my math curriculum through playing games. I would like to add some exciting new choices to the options I have in the classroom. When children roll dice to play a game in first grade they are constantly adding without thinking about the fact that they are practicing math facts. I would like to purchase several new dice to spice up the math games we traditionally play in my class. I would also love to use a magnetic 100s board in my class and in small centers. When students are allowed to manipulate numbers, they become comfortable enough to build their own understanding of number concepts. Magnetic numbers and a hundreds board would help give them another resource to help them develop a strong number sense.
Children hang around after school to keep learning and playing. Please help me continue to foster their love of learning by allowing me to provide them with fun new games.
