Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach full-day preschool with children from many different backgrounds. We are a Title I school. The preschool program is free to these families thanks to a state grant. However, we rely on donations to fund all the supplies and other classroom needs.
Math is very beneficial for young children to develop their counting and problem-solving skills.
The multi-age preschool students at our school are creative thinkers who love to explore math, freely and share their ideas. By exploring math materials listed (measuring tools, teddy counters, etc.) through process math projects, my students will have the opportunity to practice sorting, counting and measuring skills and meet their sensory needs. These items will help with encouraging math, getting these preschoolers' ready to practice problem solving skills. My goal for this project is to expose all these elements to my students and prepare them for kindergarten next school year.
What makes my students special is that they are always ready to learn new things, and with these new materials, that is precisely what I can show them in the classroom. My students are always prepared to help out and ready to learn.
