it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In August, up to 28 students will be walking into 5th grade for the first time. Please help me start the year off right with new class materials to help these students perfect basic math fluency skills such as multiplication, division, and place value.
Last year, all of my students struggled greatly to learn fluency facts.
We are a Title I school, in a rough part of Oakland. Many kids will come to school empty handed, and need any extra support they can receive in the classroom and at home.
I plan to use these materials, including the flash cards, to help my students learn their multiplication facts in a fun and engaging way. I want to start this year off with math centered groups a couple of times of week, strictly to perfect these areas, so new material isn't as challenging as it was on my students last year. We will also have a center using IREADY which will help perfect math skills and test kids. This center will require headphones, which we currently do not have in the class.
I can also utilize the Daily Science book during our morning breakfast, so students can have access to more engaging material, as well as get practice reading, working in groups, and learning more about science.
