FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Fraas's classroom raised $166

I teach first grade. The school where I teach has a large population of English Speakers of Other Languages. There is also a high percentage of at risk students; approximately 80% of our students are on free or reduced lunch.
Math is a skill that is used in everyday life. In the past my students have had a hard time grasping solving problems and other certain skills in math. I would love to bring more hands on math items to my students to use and practice the skills they are using. I am also trying to include more literature into my everyday math teaching.
By having these math manipulative's in the classroom, I will be able to let the students practice what they are learning with a hands on approach. For me hands on learning is beneficial because the students are practicing what they are being taught.
The manipulative's will allow my students to get more excited about learning math. It gets the students away from the everyday pencil and paper approach. When the students see you getting out materials, other then a piece of paper and pencil, their faces light up and they are excited about learning and practicing the math skill.
