Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
All of my students are visually impaired. They enjoy singing and dancing. They come to school with a positive attitude. They love engaging and hands-on projects. All of these children have been in school since infancy, a child with a visual impairment is in a school setting from the time they are just a few months old, this is beneficial for them because they begin to familiarize themselves with the school environment at an early age in order to be able to orient themselves a little easier when they enter preschool.
My energetic preschoolers enter the classroom ready to learn, they are curious and full of questions!
I love my students because they are always smiling and full of life.
My Project
My Visually Impaired and blind students learn primarily through sound and touch. I'm always trying to find new ways to allow them to use their senses and expose them to new activities.
By having shape sorters in my classroom my students will be exposed to a variety of ways to sort shapes.
In addition, by providing them with different activities that focus on similar concepts allows my students to have options when picking a preferred activity.
I also added language builders to starts exposing them to common words that they will use on a daily basis and to begin to implement foundational skills required for reading.
