Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Math is challenging for so many students, and my fifth graders are no exception. They often have difficulty grasping the abstract mathematical concepts and procedures that are taught in the 5th grade curriculum.
My students are vibrant, motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, fifth grade children who love to learn.
They are mostly English-Language Learners who come from low-income families. They struggle with math. They love books and would greatly benefit from books about math. These books will help reinforce what they are learning and make math so much less of a struggle!
My Project
I am requesting a set of books that aligns with the fifth grade math curriculum. These books will help reinforce the work I do during our math period. The books I have chosen are very engaging, fun, and sometimes silly.
Math can be stressful for children. These books will take that stress away as students leisurely read and learn math at the same time. Books like "Sir Cumference and the First Round Table" and "Whole-y Cow: Fractions are Fun" will excite my students and make them enthusiastic about math. These books will turn kids on to math and make them confident mathematicians!

This project will make my students enjoy math and will make them more confident in their mathematical ability. That confidence will impact them in fifth grade, and many years beyond. These books will stay in my classroom and will be used by countless students. Please help us get the school year off to a great start!
