This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) club encourages students to think out of the box and thrive from the excitement and frustration of using an assortment of materials to complete a project that meets a specific goal!

MESA targets low income, minority and first generation college students to dive into the world of science in engineering.

Though our club started off small, the students are very excited and eagerly show up every Friday to build and get to use their creative minds to solve problems. They are looking forward to completing the projects for the upcoming MESA events.

My Project

My students will use the wires, pipes, plastic chords, and other materials to build different projects. Some of the projects that they will complete include: egg launcher using random materials, duct tape water bottles, hydropower challenge, and solar powered cars among others. They will learn how to solve engineering problems and how even though they may fail once, we learn something from each trial and give it another shot.

My project will make a difference in the lives of the students because they will be able to participate in engineering projects at a young age.

It is the first year that this school has had the MESA club and students are excited to have a space where they get to explore and build. The club focuses on pursuing higher education and trying again and again. It is a positive experience and with the proper materials we are able to complete all projects the best we can!
